Entry Door Installation Guide
Read All Instructions before beginning install: Incorrect installation can void any warranty. An Entry door will not perform properly if these instructions are not followed.
- Remove any shipping components off new door, such as shoes and screws holding door to frame. If you encounter any imperfections in door, DO NOT INSTALL. Contact your dealer immediately.
- Prepare the rough opening, ideally 1” wider and ½” taller than the outside frame dimensions of your new unit: A clean and level floor is essential for a successful installation.
- Apply 3, ¼” lines of caulking along the length of subfloor and bottom of door sill.
- Set unit into properly prepared opening, not disturbing the caulking on subfloor and ensuring unit has sufficient space for proper shimming and insulation.
- Use shims every 16”
- After you have ensured unit is level, you can fasten door using screws (not supplied) through the vacant hole in each hinge, jambs, shims and into studs
- From the outside and with the door closed, ensure that the frame is a straight vertical line (not twisted). To do this, check that the weatherstrip on latch side is evenly compressed along the height of the door without pinching or gaps.
- Loosely fill rest of opening with insulation or non-expanding foam. *Be careful not to overfill.
- Caulk around exterior perimeter of the frame and sill to eliminate water.
- Install door latch and deadbolt as per the manufactures’ instructions.
- Any unfinished fiberglass product must be painted or stained within 2 weeks of install to prevent moisture damage.
